Whole Foods Market, Camelback -Grand Opening

Are you ready for the Whole Foods Market Camelback Grand Opening on September 18th? Located in the Town & Country shopping center, (4701 N 20th St Phx, AZ) it is a great new addition to the area. I was invited to a pre-grand opening event last night and had a wonderful time! I brought my little Daddy Twin with me as he is my foodie partner in crime, and was surprised at how much he liked it as well, being nine and a boy you never quite know how they are going to react to certain situations. They had food samples all over the place and he tried everything, his particular favorites were the sushi and fresh sliced deli meats. He of course loved the real fruit popsicles, but that was totally expected. Unexpected was he loved the gazpacho, who knew? I loved the seafood area, where fresh seafood is delivered up to six days a week. I do not eat fish but my husband and kids love it, so for me, I like all the information about the fish, this is very helpful in picking out something they will really enjoy.

The grocery area was cool as are all the Whole Foods Markets, I love the bins, I have no idea why, but put something in a bin and I am drawn to it! But this location has two areas that I see becoming local hang outs! The Twenty Highland Tavern, which has 36 craft beers on tap has a cool and relaxed atmosphere and is a place I would go to even if I did not have any shopping to get done. The Coffee and Espresso bar is also right up front and easy to pop in grab a coffee and some treats on a daily basis.

Here are some photos I took of the food they had out:

Whole Foods Market® gets bigger and better at Camelback store opening Sept.18

— Leading natural and organic market completes transition to new Camelback location; store standouts include Twenty Highland Tavern, “The Squeeze” juice bar and in-store roasted coffee

PHOENIX, Ariz. (Aug. 29, 2013) – Shoppers will find that change is not only good, it can be great when the new Whole Foods Market Camelback store opens on Sept. 18 at 9 a.m.

Located at 4701 N 20th St. (20th and Camelback in the Biltmore area), the much-anticipated store opening is the relocation of the Raintree store, which has served the community for nearly 10 years. Located in the heart of Phoenix, the new 35,000 square foot store is almost 10,000 feet larger than the previous location, and features expanded selections in the Prepared Foods and Bakery departments, as well as a great variety of products and innovations in each department. Among the standout features are a casual lounge and restaurant called Twenty Highland Tavern, serving up several wines and dozens of beer on tap and a Specialty Coffee & Espresso Bar serving caffeine by the cup made from in-house roasted 100 percent Arabica beans.

“We are proud to be a part of the thriving Phoenix community and the 20th and Camelback location will give us an even greater opportunity to provide the highest quality natural and organic products to Phoenix residents,” said Patrick Bradley, President, Southern Pacific Region, Whole Foods Market.  “Our new store at 20th and Camelback will feature a variety of new venues and programs to offer our customers everything they need—from ingredients for cooking delicious meals at home or convenient snacks to take on the go.”

The new Camelback store reflects the company’s mission of supporting locally-sourced and locally-made products, sustainable agriculture and the environment. With a focus on fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, specialty items, high-quality meats and poultry, everyday pantry staples and sustainable seafood, the store will appeal to a variety of customers ranging from the health conscious to serious food enthusiasts.

The store’s commitment to locally-sourced products is evidenced by its offerings from several local vendors and farmers including: Briggs & Eggers, Willcox Greenhouse and Sunizona.

Designed and built with the environment in mind, the architecture reflects a relaxed and modern-meets-classic southwestern approach along with nods to the mid-century design movement. Material and colors are derived from desert landscapes with jewel tone pops inspired by desert blooms. The store’s interior takes inspiration from the flat surfaces and hard angles of the desert environment and is complimented by typography, vibrant patterns, streamlined geometric illustrations and bright earthy color. The desert modern material palette featured throughout the store is beautiful in its simplicity and harmoniousness with the local environment.

“We wanted to design a store that would reflect the desert lifestyle and we are confident that residents and visitors alike will have everything they need and more,” said Mike Hardy, store team leader at Whole Foods Market Camelback. “We are excited to be able to serve our loyal customers in this beautiful new location and look forward to delivering an experience that truly sets Whole Foods Market apart from any other market.”.

I love Whole Foods Markets. I used to shop there exclusively before I moved. Now it’s a bit of a drive to get there so I’ve been shopping elsewhere. (sigh)

It is a little bit of a drive for me as well, when we went to the opening my son said “Mom, how come we have never been here before!” I didn’t have the heart to tell him I go there when I need a little break! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!
