Phoenix Comicon FanFest in October was a blast! Just the thing that gets your engine all rev’d up for PHOENIX COMICON!! You can’t really call it a mini Comicon. It took up the entire floor of University of Phoenix Stadium. Plus additional activities and food trucks outside. So many people dressed up in everything from cosplay to fan swag. My head was spinning every few minutes. To quote the Phoenix Comicon website “Fan Fest is a pop culture convention featuring actors, top comic book writers and artists, programming, and features exhibitors, vendors and costuming for those fans who can’t get enough of Phoenix Comicon!” I can guarantee it was all that and more! I can’t wait to attend PHOENIX COMICON in May!
We were greeted with characters from Star Wars, which pretty much set the awesomeness meter for the day at High!
My favorite was the rows of artists. These are the wonderful people that take our dreams and nightmares, create characters with them and then bring them to life! What they do is nothing short of amazing. These are the true super heroes!
I just happened to know one such artist! I was surprised to find out my cousin was there selling some fan art.
You can check out more of his art at Andrew’s Pencil. #CousinPlug
I actually did quite a bit of shopping too! The vendor’s and artists had reasonable prices for unique gifts. It was so close to Christmas I could not resist. I think 70% of my teen daughters gifts were purchased there. She was overjoyed!
I also loved just chatting with people! The writers, artists, vendors, Cosplay groups and even the fans were all so interesting. I loved hearing about the different charities the Cosplay groups support. They are passionate people in many ways.
The energy is high and everyone is excited and having fun. I don’t think I saw a frown anywhere in the whole place! I can’t think of any event I have been to in a long time that had that much positive energy! I am 100% in on attending PHOENIX COMICON in May. I am not going to lie, the fact that Jason Momoa is going to be there quite possibly pushed it up to 110%!!
Be sure to follow PHOENIX COMICON on Twitter and Facebook for current updates, specials and line up. Follow along the conversation on Twitter by using #phxcc and me by using #FoodNerd or my handle @CCtoMB.
It will be located at the Phoenix Convention Center. If you have never been there before it is a great location. HUGE and super nice is the best way to describe it.
I hope to see you all there! Set your calendar for May 28-31, 2015.
Disclosure: I received complimentary passes to attend Phoenix Comicon Fanfest, all opinions are my own.
