For the Love of Arizona ~Part II ~Sedona

Just before school ended the kids and I had a day to take a quick road trip. We talked about several options before deciding on Sedona, Arizona. We are lucky that it is only two hours away from our house. My youngest was lobbying the hardest for Sedona since he has never been and he did a report on the area at the end of the school year. I was on board pretty easily as it was miserable hot in Surprise where we live.

There are many websites where you can get travel details on Sedona, Arizona and I recommend Visitsedona.com for a full service place to plan your trip.
While doing your research you will read a lot about the spirituality of the area. You will hear about the “Vortex” and see there are a few in Sedona. I am not sure about all that, but I will say the area had a calming effect on my kids. It could have been the awe inspiring beauty of the landscape. It could have been that we were out of the house on a fun filled road trip in a place with cooler temperatures. Whatever it was, I was grateful. Not all our road trips have been as successful as this one was.

The trails just scream to be explored! The kids could not wait to get out of the vehicle and on to the many trails. In town you can get a jeep tour for further exploring. On this trip the boys were all about the hiking.

Thank goodness we did not run into any of this wildlife on our hikes. Just birds and lizards for us.

I was excited at stopping by Garland’s. It’s a cute little shop with some awesome products from different areas of Arizona. I was intrigued by the Mandarin Oil & Ghost Pepper Infused Sea Salt Chocolates. I was not brave enough to try them when it came down to it.

Over the years I have done Slide Rock several times. Slide rock is a fun natural water slide along the creek. I have poked all around up and down Oak Creek Canyon. With that in mind I am planning my next trip. I think what I will do is get a hotel right in town and have an evening exploring all the cool little shops. Sedona is known for good food which means I will also be going on a foodie adventure. I may have to do some research to make sure I get the most out of my two day one night trip. The good news is nearly everything is within walking distance, and if needed I can always ride the Trolley.

Sedona really is one of the best Road Trips in Arizona! Nature, adventure, shopping, landscapes and even spirituality. Sedona has it all. This is just another reason why, after all these years, I still love Arizona!
