– UPDATE – Le Chalet is currently CLOSED –
Where can you go for French and Swiss Fusion? Turns out Glendale, Arizona! That’s right, in a little strip mall in Glendale is a little restaurant with tons of personality! Le Chalet is certainly one of the most unique spots I have been to in quite a while.
From the outside it looks like you could be entering any restaurant in town, but when you step inside the décor has a blend of Swiss and French that works well to transport you mentally to another location for a pretty cool dining experience. I was not sure what to expect as far as the food goes and when I opened the menu I was not quite sure what to order. Everything on the menu looked so enticing! Granted I had not eaten breakfast, but still!
Our waiter, I believe he said his name was Scott, was super helpful. He made table service recommendations and as I explained that I wanted to take pictures he gave me some tips on when to catch the best action shot. He had a great sense of humor and made lunch very enjoyable!
You need to look at the menu to get an idea of just how many items there are and why it was hard to make a decision. Here are just a few.
Table Side Swiss Raclette
Melted Swiss Raclette Cheese served over steamed fingerling potatoes. With a side of pearl onions and cornichons. (Little pickles) After the cheese wheel is heated to the appropriate temperature the server pours melted cheese over your potatoes. The cheese is very strong which I loved and I think the little potatoes were the perfect accompaniment because it did not take away from any of the flavor.
“La Potence” aka “The Hanging Man”
7oz of beef Tenderloins served and flambéed table side. Served with a cast iron skillet of rice, garlic butter and four unique flavored sauces. The contraption this comes table side on is really interesting and something I had not seen before. The meat is still sizzling and therefore cooking when it arrives. Each dipping sauce adds a different flavor combination.
Salted Butter Caramel & Chocolate Ganache Crepe
Pretty self-explanatory, but I have to say I loved the Caramel Crepe so much I kind of ignored the Chocolate one.
I had a lot of fun at lunch at Le Chalet, from the service to the food everything was excellent and requires me to return for more adventures!
Le Chalet is located at: 5626 W Bell road suite 101 Glendale, Az 85308. On the North Side of Bell
