Curry Corner ~ Tempe, Arizona

Last week I happened to be in Tempe, right up the street from Curry Corner. I have been craving Naan so it was a good excuse to stop in! I had a feeling I was going to like it since I am already in love with two Indian Cuisine places way too far from my house, so why not add one more! This one is Pakistani and Indian food, and is in a small strip center, not overly decorated, just simple and relaxed. I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Tikka, and my friend ordered the Mixed Grill Sizzler, we decided on a side of Garlic Naan and Samosas. I have had Samosas before and thought they were just ok, but these were really good, lighter than I had in the past and a very good flavor. I loved the green dipping sauce they came with, which I also used on my chicken and Naan. The chicken was perfect, juicy and exploding with flavors. I like to cut off a few pieces and eat them with the Naan, dipped in sauce. It looked like a ton of food (AND IT WAS) but we demolished it all. The Mixed Grill Sizzler was also a hit and we decided we would have to go back and get a little more adventurous with food selections. Actually that is a lie, I am craving that chicken right now and I am sure I will order the same thing! But I like to think I am adventurous when it comes to food…
If you know of an Indian or Pakistani dish that I just HAVE to try, let me know! I might be able to be more adventurous with some encouragement.

People often ask me if Indian Food it too hot/spicy? If you have not tried it yet, you should know it can be if you order it that way, but if you don’t it is not. There are so many regions and various Indian dishes that you get a very diverse range of flavors. The first few times I tried it I went to a buffet, this way I could figure out exactly which dishes I liked. That is my tip for the novice. Curry Corner would also be a great place for beginners, because the wait staff was very helpful, friendly and willing to answer questions and the price is reasonable enough to try a few different things.

It is located at 1212 E Apache Blvd Tempe, AZ 85281, very close to the ASU campus. We got there a little early, right after opening and it filled up fast, and as we were leaving there was a decent crowd. The food came out quick and the service was really good. My goodness- that sounds like a meal I’d love to share with you! I love Indian food, but my husband isn’t crazy about it. I always order korma but I’ve also had an eggplant dish that I’m blanking on now that I like a lot too. And peshawri naan- yum!

My sister always gets an eggplant dish and I always steal a few bites. It’s really good. I could eat naan with everything!! Thanks for stopping by!

One of my favorites is a pumpkin and pork tenderloin in a coconut curry sauce. I have been meaning to make it for a couple of weeks now. Thanks for reminding me.

Indian food is my absolute favorite! I love Chicken Korma- it’s the perfect blend of spicy and sweet! Most of the Indian restaurants we go to also have wonderful cauliflower appetizers. I don’t know the name of it, but it’s cauliflower florets, sometimes deep-fried, covered in a really intensely flavored sauce.
